Saint John’s new council was officially sworn in Monday night as the next chapter in the city’s local government began.
“I want to thank everyone here who ran in the elections,” Mayor Donna Reardon said after all councillors had taken their oaths.
“I want to say thank you to the electorate who has elected this amazing team for me as well. I think we have a very strong team. I think you’re going to see a lot of work.”
It was the first meeting for the council elected May 11, one that is largely different from the last council.
Reardon, re-elected to a second term as mayor, welcomed the change while also suggesting this might be the last term she’ll want to serve.
