The 911 service has been restored after a morning of intermittent outages, a Bell Canada spokesperson says.
Matt Silver said a problem with the “next-generation” 911 network was detected at 4:13 a.m. Thursday.
Intermittent 911 outages were happening across Canada on Thursday morning, including in New Brunswick, provincial government spokesperson Paul Bradley confirmed by email.
People were being urged to try using a landline, Wi-Fi calling or another carrier.
Silver said backup systems were brought online to route calls to emergency services while technicians investigated.
He said service has been fully restored, but that Bell Canada is “investigating the root cause of the issue and will have further details once available.”
CBC News has asked Bradley if any problems continue to persist.
