A Saint John man on trial for being an accessory after the fact to murder is now facing a new charge for allegedly trying to prevent a witness from testifying against him.
Stephen Martin, 67, is on trial in the Court of King’s Bench with Charles Pleasance, 59, for allegedly assisting Jinelle Thompson to escape, knowing she had murdered Allan Lee on July 31, 2024.
The Crown alleges Martin and Pleasance cleaned the Jeep in which Thompson shot and killed Lee. It was later taken to a junkyard to be crushed.
Jury deliberations got underway late Wednesday afternoon and continued until 10 p.m. without a verdict. Deliberations resume Thursday morning.
