The St. John River in Fredericton and Gagetown is expected to reach flood stage over the next 24 hours, the province warned Monday afternoon.
“Given the warmer temperatures over the weekend and the rain we got last week, we are now looking at water levels being higher than they were previously,” said Paul Bradley, the communications director for the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization.
The river rose a “fair bit” over the weekend, he said.
“We’re now into the point where the lower St. John River is quite full and not a lot of room left to go.”
