Forty-six residents were forced to leave their homes Friday after city officials shut down a Miramichi apartment building due to severe safety hazards.
Miramichi Mayor Veronique Arsenault said inspectors found several critical problems that made the multi-unit building at 15 Cole Crescent unsafe.
The City of Miramichi announced that “a residential property” was closing “for safety reasons under direction from the Miramichi Fire Department.”
“The issues that are now listed and present in that building will need to be addressed. It has to go through the provincial fire marshal as well.
