The New Brunswick housing minister says a Saint John man who found what he believed was mould in a new apartment was failed by both his landlord and the province’s Tenant and Landlord Relations Office.
David Hickey was reacting to the case of Abdulbari Alhallak who signed a lease for an apartment in May but then found what he believed to be a significant amount of mould growing in the unit.
Housing officials said it would be weeks before they could look into his concerns
“The difficulty that that tenant had and all tenants have in navigating the system as it currently stands is too much and too often leads to situations like this,” Hickey said.
