Quoddy Link Marine out of St. Andrews spotted Old Thom and posted a video on YouTube. They say about the exciting event:
“It is incredibly rare to see an orca in the Bay of Fundy. This is Old Thom, an adult male orca who has been sighted in Fundy in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 and even though orcas are more commonly seen in pods Old Thom appears to be a loner. This trip on October 11/14 took us over 35 miles from St. Andrews out east of the Clarks Grounds and way out of our typical range for a whale watch. We took advantage of the weather and adventerous passengers and headed out looking for humpbacks (which we also found) and right whales but crossed paths with Old Thom. Thank You to all of our passengers who joined us aboard the Quoddy Link for this very special trip!”
Thanks for the video! Still image from quoddylinkmarine.blogspot.ca
