After a busy Tuesday, the number of out-of-control wildfires significantly decreased overnight, according to the New Brunswick government’s wildfire dashboard.
As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, there were no out-of-control wildfires, compared with six Tuesday night.
Still, the size of many of the fires increased.
The largest of the fires on the map are in Molasses Hill, at 20 hectares, the South Road Settlement, at 4.5 hectares — both near Doaktown — and in the Rogersville area, at six hectares.
Those three fires were all listed as under control, which means the fire has a control line and activity is low with sustained action or mop-up underway.
The other fires are much smaller, with most under one hectare. Ten of the fires were listed as being patrolled,
