Ball hockey players and fans in Saint John now have a place to gather year-round after a much-anticipated, specialized centre opened its doors to the community this week.

“It’s a state-of-the-art facility,” said Gary Crossman, general manger of the new Knapper Center. “They’re excited that we finally got this.”

The centre has indoor and outdoor playing surfaces designed for four-on-four ball hockey — the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada, according to Quebec-based sports equipment company,
