A judicial oversight body has found that a New Brunswick judge, intending to influence an upcoming recusal motion against him, inappropriately made comments to a lawyer.
Justice Frederick Ferguson, who was appointed to the Court of King’s Bench in 2008, was ordered to send a written apology to the lawyer.
The 13-page decision was published on Aug. 11 by the Canadian Judicial Council, which oversees the conduct of federally appointed judges.
The decision does not identify who complained about Ferguson, but lawyer Nathan Gorham confirmed to CBC News that his firm, Gorham Vandebeek LLC, which has offices in Fredericton and Toronto,
