Mount Allison University students finishing the semester had the chance this weekend to send their unwanted furniture to the food bank instead of the landfill.
Items like couches, desks, kitchen tables and books that often go to the landfill got a second chance on Saturday.
For the past four years, Mount A students have been able to donate their unwanted items to a communal yard sale. But this year’s sale was organized in partnership with the local food bank.
“All the proceeds are going to a good cause with the Sackville Food Bank,” said Oliver VanBuskirk, a third-year sociology student and the vice-president of external affairs for the Mount Allison Students’ Union.
In previous years, the money was donated to the Rotary Club of Sackville or EOS Eco-Energy,
