Fredericton police say human remains were discovered following a small structure fire in the woods on the city’s north side Thursday evening.
The remains have not been identified, and the investigation is still in its early stages, police said in a news release Friday.
Police said their major crime team is assisting New Brunswick coroner services with the investigation.
The release said police and the Fredericton Fire Department responded to a call at about 5:40 p.m. about a fire in the woods behind Two Nations Crossing.
“Upon arrival, first responders observed a small structure fully engulfed in flames,” the release said.
