As an environmental science teacher in the 1990s, Debbie Baxter vowed to do everything in her power to eliminate her carbon footprint.
This meant converting 40 per cent of her backyard into a food forest. She never uses paper towels, instead swapping the household staple for cut-up old clothes. And she planted sunflowers in her yard as her own natural bird feeder.
