Environment Canada has issued an alert for parts of Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick, warning of prolonged heavy rainfall starting Sunday.
Up to 75 millimetres of rain could fall between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon. Central Nova Scotia can expect some of the higher amounts.
The alert covers most of mainland Nova Scotia and areas of southern New Brunswick, including Saint John and Fundy National Park. Inverness County in Nova Scotia is also under a wind warning for strong southeasterly gusts.
“Rainfall rates of 15-25 millimetres per hour may occur over some locations. Bands of rain are expected to track repeatedly over some areas, leading to higher totals,” the weather agency stated, warning that localized flooding and water pooling on roads could hamper travel.
