A potential front-runner for the New Brunswick Green Party leadership has decided not to run and will stay out of politics for now.

Kevin Arseneau announced Tuesday that he’ll be focusing on family, farming and his teaching job instead of running for the leadership post long held by David Coon.

“Working the fields and working with my kids this summer, and seeing them grow up really quickly and just … all those different feelings just came together and said, I think my course of action has changed,” he said.

Arseneau is a former MLA for Kent North and was elected in 2018 and 2020 before losing his seat in the 2024 election.
