Cleanup of a gasoline spill on the eastbound lane of Route 1 near Hampton is still going on — nearly six months after the crash that caused it.
On April 8, an estimated 36,000 litres of fuel spilled from a tanker truck that crashed on the southern New Brunswick highway.
The eastbound lane where the single-vehicle crash and spill occurred remains closed.
The company overseeing cleanup, Pario Engineering and Environmental Sciences, says the current work could take four to six weeks to complete, said Jennifer MacNeill, a spokesperson for the Department of Environment and Local Government.
