Green Party deputy leader Megan Mitton is calling on the provincial government to tell New Brunswickers how many artificial intelligence data centres are currently being proposed and which communities are targeted.
Mitton, who is the MLA for the Memramcook-Tantramar and expected to be acclaimed as party leader in December, made the call in a recent news release following Opportunities New Brunswick recently confirming discussions around a second large-scale data centre slated for Saint John.
Mitton’s statement says the provincial government “must live up to their commitment to be ‘the most transparent government New Brunswick has ever seen.'”
“There’s a lot of information and data there and the whole government really is not considering what communities want and what protections people need,” Mitton said in a recent interview.
