The rollout of body-worn cameras for RCMP officers in the Moncton area has been delayed several months.
Codiac Regional RCMP is the last RCMP jurisdiction in New Brunswick where body cameras haven’t been rolled out.
The Mounties began a national rollout in November 2024, but Codiac was awaiting the move into its new detachment in downtown Moncton.
While that move happened over the summer, the force that polices Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview announced this week the rollout was temporarily on hold.
“When we were getting ready to do the training and the launch dates, we encountered some resourcing issues at the provincial level,” Supt. Benoit Jolette, Codiac’s commanding officer, told reporters Tuesday after an opening ceremony for the new station.
