A Progressive Conservative Party leadership candidate has been accused of violating New Brunswick’s election financing law after he offered incentives to customers at his campground music festival to vote for him.
Don Monahan, the Arcadia-Butternut Valley-Maple Hills MLA, offered festival patrons $85 worth of tokens and passes if they joined the party to vote for him as leader.
The cost for non-party members to join and register to vote is $50.
Monahan said he cleared the arrangement with both the PC party and Elections New Brunswick,
