The driver of a motorcycle was killed in a collision with a moose early Tuesday morning near Miramichi, RCMP say.
A news release said members of the Tracadie, Neguac and Chaleur RCMP detachments responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision between a moose and a motorcycle on Highway 8 in Bartibog, about 20 kilometres north of Miramichi.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 36-year old man from Bathurst, died at the scene, police said.
A passenger on the motorcycle was transported to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries. The release did not give the age, gender or hometown of the passenger.
Members of the Miramichi Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office were at the scene after the crash.
