The father of Courtney MacKenzie says her family “never gave up hope” of justice in the five years since her death.
John Power said their “world was shattered” when the body of the 27-year-old Saint John woman was discovered in an apartment complex on Victoria Street in the city’s north end on May 11, 2021.
She had last been seen on May 2.
“Words do nothing to express the pain, the loss and feeling of despair we have endured,” Power told reporters Tuesday, speaking out on the case for the first time.
“Courtney was a loving mother, granddaughter, daughter, sister and friend of many,” he said, reading from a prepared statement.
