Fredericton police have confirmed the suspect involved in a weapons-related call that closed down businesses and nearby schools Tuesday morning has been found dead and a firearm has been recovered.
Around 10:45 a.m., city police asked the public to avoid an established police perimeter on Prospect Street in the city’s uptown while they worked to contain the scene in front of Shoppers Drug Mart.
The advisory came after a report of an individual with a weapon.
On Tuesday afternoon, Fredericton Police Force spokesperson Sonya Gilks said the matter had been resolved.
