Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis is calling on N.B. Power to come up with an emergency plan to fix problems with a 60-year-old transmission line that provides power to the city and surrounding communities. 

The city issued an alert early Wednesday morning warning of a power outage affecting more than 4,500 homes connected to the Edmundston distribution grid. The outage lasted just under seven hours. 

It’s the second transmission outage in a week, Marquis said.
