A judge will rule in April in a Moncton workplace safety trial about a worker crushed by a large tire.
Coast Tire & Auto Service Ltd. stood trial Tuesday and Wednesday in Moncton provincial court on a charge under New Brunswick’s Occupational Health and Safety Act. It’s alleged the company failed to provide appropriate equipment to move oversize tires.
Timothy Steeves, who worked for Coast Tire for 17 years, died Oct. 18, 2024.
The trial heard the 41-year-old was unloading a delivery of tires from a transport truck trailer at Coast Tire’s location on Baig Boulevard in Moncton.
One tire was about 1.7 metres tall, weighing 454 kilograms. It was delivered strapped upright to the trailer wall,
