A western New Brunswick hospital that recently diverted labour and delivery patients to other hospitals has hired new surgeons.

Two new general surgeons have been hired at the Upper River Valley Hospital and will be trained in emergency and elective C-sections, according to Horizon Health Network.

In a statement released Aug. 6, the network said it’s the first time in 10 years that all three general surgeon positions at the hospital are filled.

Commenting on the new hires, Mayor Andrew Harvey said it’s welcome news for the general surgeon currently working at the hospital,
