The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1970 by the Government of New Brunswick. All duties and functions of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame Inc. shall be carried out in accordance with its By-Laws.

The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is a not-for-profit charitable organization established to recognize and honour achievement in competitive sport and its development, promote the mandate and purpose of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, foster and promote public awareness of and appreciation for New Brunswick’s sport history and heritage.

The affairs of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame Inc. shall be governed by a Board of Governors of not more than eight (8) persons, three (3) of which will be appointed by the Minister responsible for Sport and Recreation in New Brunswick.

Current opportunity:

The provincial government is currently seeking to fill one (1) vacancy.  Expressions of interest are invited to fill this position but may also be used to fill future vacancies.

Qualifications/Commitment:

Considerations for board composition are as follows:

  • Candidates must be residents of New Brunswick;
  • Candidates must demonstrate an appreciation for and knowledge of New Brunswick’s sport heritage;
  • Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of New Brunswick’s sport delivery system;
  • Candidates must recognize and understand sport as a powerful means of enhancing society’s wellbeing;
  • Preference will be given to candidates having experience in corporate governance and finance;
  • Candidates must be willing to abide by the Board’s code of ethics and conflict of interest policies; and
  • Membership of the Board will reflect the diversity found in the province’s sport community and where possible consider differing sport backgrounds, official linguistic communities, regional representation and gender equity.

Conditions/Compensation:

Board members are reimbursed for expenses reasonably incurred in carrying out their responsibilities in accordance with the rates established by the Board of Governors’ Travel Policy.

Travel is required to attend some board meetings.
