A man accused of murdering a Rothesay woman in Musquash last year will be tried for unrelated charges of uttering threats against another woman.
Calvin Burns-Smith, 31, made a brief appearance in court Tuesday morning to set trial dates for two charges of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, on April 5 and April 17 in 2025.
“Your trial is scheduled for two days, Mr. Burns-Smith,” said Judge Kelly Winchester at the appearance.
“Feb. 4 and 5 at 9:30 a.m. And you’re under remand on these [charges],” she said, meaning Burns-Smith would remain police custody.
Burns-Smith pleaded not guilty to those charges. He was originally scheduled to face trial in June.
