Romance is in the air on “Love on the Rise”, the beautiful new duet from New Brunswick-based songwriter Mike Trask, and francophone artist Julie Aubé (Les Hay Babies), available now as part of Mike Trask’s online-only VAULT series.
Mike Trask and Julie Aubé team up for a stripped-down rendition of Mike Trask’s folk ballad “Love on the Rise”, a recording that combines Trask’s knack for specific lyrical minutiae with Aubé’s considerable vocal prowess, to deliver a track that is as musically impressive as it is moving.
Featuring only sparse acoustic accompaniment, the pair trade-off lead vocals before finally joining forces during the heartfelt refrain. The contrast between their voices breathes emotional depth into the lyrics, as Trask and Aubé ask in harmony, “Where does love go when it dies?” Complex, spiritual and unforgettable, “Love on the Rise” could be the love song of the year!
