The 60th edition of the Festival acadien de Caraquet will begin in one month. The team is busy making final preparations to welcome 64 artists and groups, as well as all their musicians, and a large amount of festival-goers.

The Festival will take place from August 5 to 15, 2022, but an important pre-festival activity is scheduled for Monday, August 1st, namely the traditional and very popular Soapbox Race. Young and old will once again compete in this event, not to mention the annual friendly competition between mayors of various municipalities in New Brunswick.

The president and director of the Festival, Paul Marcel Albert, is pleased to see that everything is falling into place for the presentation of a truly exceptional edition of this not-to-be-missed event, which has become, over the years, one of the most important events in the Atlantic Provinces. “The Festival acadien de Caraquet has long been an important and essential engine for the region’s cultural and tourism industry. This year will be no exception. We are receiving messages from people from all over who are anxious to come back to see us as well as from people who will be visiting our region for the first time. We are very excited,” he says. Paul Marcel Albert would like to emphasize the exceptional contribution of local businesses this year. “For our 60th edition, we had significant financial support from our merchants. I believe we broke a record in the search for private sponsorships. This demonstrates not only the importance of our event in the eyes of our local entrepreneurs, but also the enthusiasm for a program that he describes as exceptional.”

The programming director for the event, Carol Doucet, is very happy with the response from the artists. “The Festival team trusts me in the choice of artists for a second consecutive year and of course, I put a lot of emphasis on the presence of Acadian artists since it is our mandate. Last year, we had big names in Acadian music and this year, it’s still the case with different artists. This shows how rich and diversified our music industry is. More than 80% of the artists on the program are from the Maritimes, but we will also have artists from Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Louisiana, and France,” she says.

In summary, this year’s Festival will start on Monday August 1st with the Soapbox Race; on Friday, August 5, Édith Butlerand Lisa LeBlanc; on Saturday, August 6, Les Gars du Nord (Wilfred LeBouthillier, Jean-Marc Couture, Maxime McGraw and Danny Boudreau) and DJ Bones; on Sunday, August 7, La Dolce Vita with Éric Thériault, Christina Haldane and Carl Philippe Gionet + Matiu and Paul Piché; on Monday, August 8, Magician Rémi Boudreau + Shaun Ferguson and Hannah Al-Kharusy + Beauséjour and Patrick Norman;  on Tuesday, August 9, Ode à l’Acadie; on Wednesday, August 10, Ode à l’Acadie + the show À travers le hublot with special guest Georges Langford; on Thursday, August 11, a Louisiana day at the Festival with Nadine & Sammy + La Patente + Zachary Richard and Bruce Daigrepont; on Friday, August 12, Kit, Louise and Mathias Goguen + Maggie Savoie + Chloé Breault and Gregory Charles + Denzel Subban;  on Saturday, August 13, Émilie Landry + Karine Gallant and friends + Lucien Comeau + Damien Robitaille + Daniel Goguen + Fireworks + a Country Night with Laurie LeBlanc and Hert LeBlanc; on Sunday, August 14, Christine Melanson + Jérémie and the Delicious Hound + La Boîte à chanson du 60e + Le Winston Band and La Trappe; and on Monday, August 15, Les Fireflies + Gilles St-Cyr + Dominique Dupuis + the Tintamarre + 1755 + Moyenne Rig + La Virée.
