The Festival acadien de Caraquet is preparing its 60th edition, which will take place from August 5 to 15, 2022. To mark this anniversary, no less than 60 artists and groups will be part of the event, and more than half of the shows presented will be free.

Of these 60 artists and groups, about a third are announced today, those for which tickets are now available through the Billetterie Accès ticketing network.

The opening show of the 60th on Friday, August 5 will feature two great ladies of music from two generations, Édith Butler and Lisa LeBlanc. The following day, Saturday, August 6, another high-energy evening will feature Les Gars du Nord (Wilfred LeBouthillier, Danny Boudreau, Maxime McGraw, and Jean-Marc Couture), followed by DJ Bones. On Monday, August 7, the Festival will have the honor of welcoming Paul Piché who will be preceded on stage by Aboriginal artist Matiu. Patrick Norman’s show, which was on the bill in 2020 but has been postponed, will be back on Monday, August 8. People who have their 2020 tickets will be able to use them.

On Wednesday, August 10, a collective of artists from the Magdalen Islands will present their show in Tribute to Georges Langford. Thursday, August 11 will be a day devoted largely to Louisiana and will end with a great show by Zachary Richard and Bruce Daigrepont. On August 12, the Festival will present Chloé Breault and Gregory Charles, and on August 13, an early evening with Damien Robitaille at the Cultural Center will be followed by a great country night at the Carrefour de la mer with Laurie LeBlanc and Hert LeBlanc. On Sunday, August 14, a very special evening will be held at the Cultural Centre, a “Boite à chanson” featuring Antoine Landry, Les Allégros (Audette and Paulette Chiasson), Donat Lacroix, Les Fugues (Florence, Doria and Fabienne Albert), Jules Boudreau, Raymond Breau, René Cormier, Rosemarie Landry, and Solange Landry. The party will continue in the evening at Carrefour de la mer with La Trappe and its guests!

“We wanted to have 60 artists and groups on our stages to celebrate our 60th anniversary, says Festival president Paul Marcel Albert. The Festival acadien is one of the most important events in the Maritimes. We know that artists need to work, and we are faithful to our mission, which is to promote Acadian culture in a festive way, while being open to the world,” he said.

The person in charge of programming for the event, Carol Doucet, is very happy with this great mandate that she has been offered for a second consecutive year. “The Festival team trusts me in the choice of artists and of course, I put the emphasis on the presence of Acadian artists. Last year, due to the uncertainty of the opening of the borders, we were unable to welcome artists from outside the region. This year, about 80% of the artists on the program will be from the Maritimes, but we will also have artists from Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and Louisiana,” she confirms.

The Festival is launching a portion of its program today, with tickets available through the Billetterie Accès box office network. Note that all fees are included in the prices mentioned. Many other shows, both paid and free, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Festival acadien de Caraquet is made possible thanks to the collaboration of Canadian Heritage, the municipality of Caraquet, Musicaction and sponsors such as L’Acadie Nouvelle, the Loto 50/50 de la Coopérative de Caraquet and CHAU-TVA.
