Bio Voltex, formed in 2024, hosted a public meeting this week at the Penobsquis Community Centre, attended by 60 to 70 people, according to organizer estimates.

Scott Walton, Bio Voltex CEO, said he was really happy with the reception.

Walton is from Saint John and one of three partners in the company, which has an office in Fredericton.

The plant would produce about 180,000 gigajoules of natural gas and 100,000 tonnes of fertilizer a year, he said.

How many houses that could power depends on the generating station technology, but Walton said, if burned, it would be enough to heat a few thousand homes.

It would be sold to a single customer for a period of 20 years, he said.

Walton didn’t name the buyer and said an agreement could only be finalized after environmental impact approval,
