New Brunswickers in certain parts of the province will likely witness significant rainfall over the next couple of days.

Rain in the Saint John area, coastal areas of Charlotte County, and Fundy National Park is expected to mid-Thursday evening and intensify during the night, according to Environment Canada.

A rainfall warning has been issued for those coastal communities, with a total of up to 50 millimetres possible Thursday night and Friday, with thunderstorms also possible.

A rainfall warning for the Acadian Peninsula also forecasts up to 50 millimetres throughout Friday and into Saturday.

Fredericton and southern York County, Oromocto, Grand Lake, Sunbury, Queens, and Kings counties, Sussex and the Kennebecasis Valley can expect 20 to 40 millimetres until Friday afternoon,
