Well known New Brunswick artist (writer and mixed media), Sheila McPhee was fêted at Government House on June 1st as her summer-long exhibit of paintings was launched in its downstairs gallery.

Sheila’s paintings include a series celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday featuring individual paintings of each province’s and territory’s flag,

flower [main image] and bird,

as well as Canada’s flag, national flower and national bird.

The Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, The Honourable Jocelyn Roy Vienneau, was glowing in her appreciation of Sheila’s artistry and pride in her country.

As well, the diversity of the guests in attendance testifies to the broad appeal of the artist as a person and as a gifted communicator.

The accompanying photos do not do her paintings justice: they must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The public will have the opportunity to do exactly that in the lower gallery at Government House, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Labour Day. Further information may be had by calling Government House at 506-453-2505.
