A sexual assault charge against a doctor in northwestern New Brunswick was withdrawn Tuesday, according to Radio-Canada.

A sexual assault charge against a doctor in northwestern New Brunswick was withdrawn Tuesday, according to Radio-Canada.

Dr. Sanjeev Sirpal was accused of sexually assaulting a patient at the Edmundston Regional Hospital in August 2025. The 39-year-old was scheduled to stand trial in February next year.

However, the charge was withdrawn by a Crown prosecutor during an appearance in Edmundston provincial court. The reason the charge was withdrawn isn’t known. 

Sirpal still faces charges elsewhere in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. 

He’s accused of sexually assaulting a patient at the Sackville Memorial Hospital in southeastern New Brunswick on Feb. 22, 2025. A trial in Moncton provincial court is scheduled for April 13-14 next year.
