The family of André Després stood in a Moncton courtroom Wednesday in front of the man who admitted to killing him and said, “He was taken from us in his own yard.”
Lynn Gray told Alphonse Daigle her family still wonders why he killed her 52-year-old partner two years ago outside his house in Pointe-Sapin in southeastern New Brunswick.
“Only a monster can do such a cruel thing,” she told him in French. “I will never forgive you.”
Daigle was sentenced Wednesday for first-degree murder to life in prison with no chance for parole for 25 years.
