Organizers of the International Culturefest in Saint John hope to put past conflict behind them after a smooth opening day on Water Street.
“We are offering a very peaceful, full experience here today,” said festival co-director Lorne Daltrop on Saturday, the first day of the two-day event. “No one is thinking about any other disturbance or anything else that might have happened in the past … people are really able to enjoy.”
At last year’s festival, police were called to the Israel booth when pro-Palestinian protesters gathered nearby. According to court documents,
