One eastbound lane of Route 1 between Hampton and Quispamsis has reopened a week after a tanker crashed on the highway, the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization said in a Facebook post Wednesday night.

“Travelers are advised to reduce speed and be alert to highway signage at the cleanup site,” the post said.

An eastbound lane still remains closed, but the westbound lanes of the highway reopened last week.

On April 8, a tanker truck crashed, spilling 36,000 litres of fuel, according to EMO.

A video later emerged of the incident, which appears to show liquid spilling immediately after the truck rolled over.
