Experts in New Brunswick are warning residents about the potential economic impact of rising gas prices as the conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran continues.

Data from the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board shows consumer self-serve gasoline prices have risen by 20 per cent between March 5 and 14 — a huge spike when compared to the month of March in previous years.

Gas prices in New Brunswick rose 4.1 per cent during March 2024 and March 2025 saw a 1.7 per cent increase.

“I’m really concerned about the consequences of those increases, not only for people who are driving and transportation, but for the whole economy of New Brunswick,” said Fredericton-based economist Constantine Passaris.
