The City of Saint John is looking for help from residents to figure out where its hotspots are.

The meaning is quite literal, as the city is trying to cool off parts of the city that tend to see higher temperatures.

Maria Murphy, the vice-president of development and social sustainability for Bloom Funding, is working on the community engagement side of the research the city has commissioned.

“We want to know, where is it uncomfortable? Where are you walking to school, the grocery store, to a park? What parks need more tree cover? Maybe where your kids are playing,” said Murphy.

She’s holding sessions that allow residents to point out which parts of the city they find the warmest.
