Police are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man found in a home south of Moncton as suspicious.

RCMP officers were called to a residence on Route 910 in Shenstone around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, where they discovered the man’s body. The local resident’s cause of death remains unknown, and the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the case.

“We use that term [suspicious] when we are not quite sure on the means or the manner of death,” said N.B. RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette. “We just don’t know at this point in the investigation how exactly this person died.”

Ouellette declined to release further details, but said police do not believe there is any threat to public safety.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP Major Crime Unit.
