We lost a true friend over the weekend. Peter DeMarsh of Taymouth was on the plane that crashed in Ethiopia, killing all on board (see CBC story). Peter was chairperson of the International Family Forestry Alliance and was on his way to Kenya for a UN meeting on the environment.
More important for some of us, he was a valued member of a small group of New Brunswickers devoted to the understanding of big ideas in aid of local and personal development. He is missed already, individually and collectively by members of that group. Our next meeting was to include Peter’s thoughts on economic development in rural New Brunswick, an indication of his life-long support for local economic wellbeing and development.
Our thoughts go out to Jean Burgess-DeMarsh and son Luke and to all that knew Peter and his family.
