On Friday, September 13, 2024, the band La Patente will launch a brand-new album, entitled “Le cirque des mal-aimés”. It will be available on all digital platforms, as well as on CD, cassette and vinyl.
Three shows/release parties are scheduled in New Brunswick, at the Harvest Music Festival in FREDERICTON on Friday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m., at the Empress Hall of the Capitol Theatre in MONCTON on Saturday, September 14 at 8 p.m., and at the bar Su’l Fanil in EDMUNDSTON on Saturday, September 21 at 8 p.m. Launches will also take place in Quebec in November, notably on November 30 at the Quai des brumes in MONTREAL.
“Le cirque des mal-aimés” is a country folk style album with a punk rock feel. It features 12 new songs with lyrics by Marc Colecchio and music by La Patente. The musicians on the album are Marc Colecchio (vocals, acoustic guitar), Mathieu Emond (banjo, keyboards, electric guitar, percussion, vocals), Marc-André Godin (double bass, electric bass, vocals), and Chad Ritchie (drums, vocals). Jessica McWilliams provided the harmonies on the song “Dans l’même bateau”. The visual concept for the cover is by Philatomic. At the end of the B-side of the cassette, fans will find a surprise… a 13th song, on the cassette only…
New single for radio and live session: “Le King du centre-ville”
The song “Le King du centre-ville” is the new radio single released at the same time as the album, on September 13, 2024. “It’s the simple story of a guy who thinks he’s the king of downtown, but in reality, he’s a guy who’s never had too much luck in life, a poor devil,” explains singer Marc Colecchio. The song was also filmed by Fred Guitard of La Cave Media during a performance at the Festival acadien in Caraquet. The video will be available on September 13 on the band’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@patenteband.
Pre-sale of the albums
La Patente fans can already pre-order the album in digital, CD, cassette or vinyl formats. All physical formats albums will be shipped by mail upon release on September 13. The albums are available for purchase on the band’s Bandcamp page: lapatente.bandcamp.com/album/le-cirque-des-mal-aim-s.
La Patente: songs and music built for staying up late…
La Patente is a party that’s been going strong for 4 years now, without ever running out of steam. After the album “L’illusion de la perfection” (2021) and the EP “Le paradis des infidèles” (2023), the quartet returns in September 2024 with “Le cirque des mal-aimés”, an album of sawdusty folk-rock with just a hint of what lurks at the bottom of the barrel. All three albums were released with the Acadian label, Le Grenier musique.
The quartet rose from the dark recesses of New Brunswick to set the stage ablaze. Feeding on diesel to regurgitate the bilge of everyday life, they assert their uniqueness on the music scene now more than ever with a brand-new album. Since their debut in 2021, the band has taken the stage to perform some 200 shows in five countries on both sides of the Atlantic. This success is reflected in an accumulation of nominations and awards at East Coast Music Awards, Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec, Music New Brunswick, FrancoFête en Acadie, Harvest Music Festival, as well as repeated appearances at major events and on notable broadcasts. Wherever they go, their rough-voiced songs and music that is built for staying up late leave behind a trace of the party, complete with sore dance-stepping muscles and satisfied mornings-after.
“Le cirque des mal-aimés” is a series of odes to parties that never end with the tireless festive good humor on stage of Marc Colecchio (vocals, guitar), Mathieu Emond (banjo, vocals), Marc-André Godin (upright bass, vocals) and Jean-Denis Migneault (drums, vocals). Don’t be surprised if you sense the whiff of a two-stroke engine mixed with accents of the wood floor of a dive bar and the lake breeze that wafts over northern idylls. It’s one of the side-effects of listening repeatedly to the scummy backyard poetry of these classy-hearted bums.
