The chair of Fredericton council’s mobility committee says the sudden arrival of rental e-scooters in the city came as a surprise to him.
“We really didn’t know they were coming,” said Jason LeJeune. “This isn’t something that we regulate. The mobility committee certainly wouldn’t regulate businesses.”
New app-based e-scooters have appeared scattered around downtown Fredericton over the past week and the city says it currently has no bylaws in place to regulate them.
