A Dieppe singer-songwriter was chosen as one of five Canadian Eurovision finalists.
Josiane Comeau, who performs under her first name, writes and performs songs shaped by her Acadian heritage.
Comeau said she found out about being selected about two weeks ago.
“I was in my car driving with my mom when I got the first call,” she said. “It was a big secret, and it was the biggest shock to receive that call. Honestly, I did the application without really having, I guess, confidence in myself.”
Held annually since 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest is considered one of the world’s biggest live music spectacles.
