The New Brunswick government says it is cleaning up after a chemical was spilled in Fredericton, colouring some roads yellow.

Crews started shutting down parts of Wilsey Road, Vanier Industrial Drive and the Vanier Highway interchange at Alison Boulevard on Friday afternoon in order to accommodate the cleanup.

“Samples of the substance have been sent to a lab for analysis,” said Department of Environment spokesperson Jennifer MacNeil in an email.

“The investigation is ongoing.”

MacNeil said the department was notified about the spill on Thursday.
