Resurfacing work on the Confederation Bridge will now begin Saturday instead of Friday as previously announced, according to the company that manages bridge operations.

Strait Crossing Bridge Limited said the extensive roadwork project is expected to continue seven days a week for about two months and will cause delays of about 30 to 60 minutes for travellers crossing between P.E.I. and New Brunswick.

“The upcoming resurfacing project represents the most significant work undertaken since the bridge was originally constructed,” reads an advisory on the website. 

“Bridge infrastructure is designed for long-term performance, but like all major transportation assets, it requires regular maintenance and reinvestment.”
