A northeast New Brunswick lobster processor has settled a small claims case filed by two former temporary foreign workers over lost wages.
Adriana de Leon Silva and Juan Pablo Lerma Lopez were paid a total of $11,500 more than two years after filing the claim against LeBreton & Sons Fisheries Ltd.
“On the one hand, it’s a small relief after so many years of struggle,” de Leon Silva told CBC News in Spanish on Thursday from Mexico.
She shook her head as she described the stress over several years seeking payment.
“It’s very stressful. I think no worker should have to go through what we went through.”
