Some Miramichi residents are feeling surprised and optimistic after the early days of the Centennial Bridge closure didn’t create the traffic jams they expected.
Matt Mosher, a Miramichi resident who uses the bridge daily to get to his job in Lower Newcastle, said he was “extremely surprised” there wasn’t more congestion.
“I was expecting the worst — car to car, bumper to bumper — and that just wasn’t the case.”
The Centennial Bridge closed Monday, after years of delays and preparations to soften the impact on residents. It will remain closed until Dec. 1.
