Jurors were sent home Tuesday as legal issues were discussed ahead of the defence potentially calling evidence in a Moncton double-murder trial.

It’s the seventh week of Janson Baker’s trial on two counts of first-degree murder. It’s alleged he killed 74-year-old Rose-Marie Saulnier and her husband, 78-year-old Bernard Saulnier, on Sept. 7, 2019.

The 14 jurors were briefly brought into the Moncton courtroom on Tuesday morning.

Court of King’s Bench Justice Cameron Gunn said they’d be sent home because there were “legal issues to resolve” that would be discussed without the jury present. Jurors were told to return to court Wednesday morning.
