Jurors in a Moncton double murder trial on Thursday heard about a major police investigation and series of raids carried out just before the killings.

RCMP Cpl. Stephane Sabourin was the file co-ordinator for an investigation police called J-Trilogy. It began in January 2019 and targeted a drug network Sabourin said was led by Jesse Logue. It involved wiretaps, surveillance and undercover operations.

It culminated in police simultaneously raiding five locations across the province on Aug. 28, 2019. Logue and other people were arrested. Police seized guns and drugs like crystal meth, jurors heard.

One location raided was a Moncton duplex owned by Sylvio Saulnier.
